What is a Whoopie Pie?
A Whoopie Pie has a fluffy center sandwiched between two soft cakelike cookies. Believe it or not, "Whoopie Pie" is the real name for this yummy treat! It has been noted that the "Whoopie" in the "Whoopie Pie" name makes some people a little uneasy. Many are actually reluctant to say "Whoopie Pie" assuming that they have misunderstood what was said. Tammy has been already been dubbed "The Whoopie Lady" by some and that's perfectly fine with her. Please feel free to call her whatever makes you happy, after all, that's what a Whoopie Pie is supposed to do....... Make you happy!
Who is the Whoopie Lady?
Tammy, the owner of the Wild Whoopie Bakery, was born and raised in the State of Maine where Whoopie Pies are a treat that can be found at almost every gas station, convenience store and Mom & Pop establishment in the New England area. Soon after moving to Sioux Falls in 2000, she realized that the Midwest didn't have this treat or anything similar to it so it seemed only fitting that after she was laid-off from her full time job in December 2008 the thought of opening a bakery soon followed.
